CPU water cooler

I was browsing around at directron and found this. http://www.directron.com/cp101.html
I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with it, and if it was any good.
Thanks

There was a thread here not too long ago about that product. The general concensus was... it's just circulating hot liquid aroung a hot heatsink.

Here's another article reviewing the same HSF:

http://www.moddin.net/review.asp?ReviewID=96

Also, it appears to me as if there are several "manufacturers" distributing the same product and marketing it under different names. 1coolpc.com has the exact same item under the name of "WaterX". This is not a viable water cooling solution. If you want something quiet but self contained, just get a good quiet HSF. If you want to go with water, be prepared to spend the time and money buying or building a kit.

I would NEVER even consider using a water cooler in any of my beloved builds; call me old school, but water and electronics is just a recipe for disaster. A good heatsink and fan combo, and a tower with excellent air-flow characteristics is more than sufficient, and doesn't present the worry (that no one can say they don't have) that goes along with installing a water type CPU cooler in your rig.

I do have a water cooling rig, and I can say that I have absolutely no worries about leaks. Do it right the first time, and test it, and you'll be fine.

While I can still say that I wouldn't personally use water cooling, after talking with some who have and have taken the time to select components that were well designed to be both effective and reliable (no easy task with all of the 'me too' manufacturers with poorly designed garbage vying for a piece of the pie), I am reasonably convinced that it can be safe if it IS well designed and diligently maintained. Someone who doesn't spend the time to do regular maintenance checks is still inviting trouble,- maybe not in the short term, but certainly if neglected for a prolonged period. I have seen a couple of water cooling set ups that seem to make effective use of coolant and heat exchange design, and appear to have whatever components that interface with the CPU sufficiently sealed so as not to be problematic. I'm still not ready to go there myself yet though..

I think if you were to pay for a higher end water cooling system things would be fine.

If you go for a cheap one thats when you need to worry.

They should give non conductive liquids with the water cooling kits so if it does leek then nothing frys.

No doubt. While you don't always get what you pay for,- in this case you would pay for what you don't.
