In what resolution should i make sites at.....
I work at 1024x768

In photoshop could i make a new 1024x768 Image
On the image, have Borders and Titles, headings etc

Or is that stupid
(it wont resize for other resolutions?)

Im just trying to make easy designs
Or should i stick with all seperate jpegs?

Just visit other sites and decide how you would like to do yours. If youre suggesting having a giant 1024x768 image as your webpage then thats a pretty obvious no-no since the load time would be rediculous. Having said that, when you decide the size you want your webpage you could make a large image to plan it all out, then chop it up into pieces for the title, menu bar, buttons etc.

800x600 or 1024x768 are generally the accepted standards for most sites these days, atleast the ones I commonly use. Anything larger, and you will limit your target viewing audience.

I usually design sites to fit the screen at 800x600 but look even better at 1024x768. As far as header images and stuff....... it's easier to use tables and background colors in tables and have them expand to 100% so you fill your screen width.

Of course you could use a javascript and redirect to a page designed specifically for a users individual screen resolution........... but that's probably a little overkill unless your site is only a couple of pages.

Just a tip, be sure to include a "this site is best viewed at 1024x768" or whatever you decide to use. A lot of folks don't understand why the screen doesn't fit or why they can't see everything, etc...
