"^&*()!!! Slotket stuck in slot

My celeron 900 arrived - i decided to test it, as one does, to make sure tis all in order. I went to take out my slotket w/C533 in it (Generic with plastic casing) and the right side was stuck in - not moving at all - the left side was still free. I made sure the little clips or whatever you'd call them arn't enagaged but I couldn't unstick the right side. I pushed it in, undid the clips again and tried to remove it - this time both sides are stuck fast. I can't figure out what's holding the damned thing in. I've pulled pretty damn hard but it won't budge and I don't wanna crack a printed circuit on the motherboard.
So, i set the jumpers to near as possible to 1.75v without fidling too much with the jumpers, which in this case was 1.85v. I put in the chip without taking out the slotket and i mounted my RDJD K601 - the cooler won't mount flush with the CPU - y'know the part of the socket that is raised that says "PPGA 370"? It hits the heatsink and ofsets it - I confirmed this when I started up and watched the temp slowly but steadily rise to 53C at which point I powered down.

SO WHAT DO I DO??? How am i to get this damned thing out?

OK, so the slocket it just stuck in the Slot 1. It's probaly locked under that little tab that funnily enough locks the Slot 1 processor in place...U should be able to apply pressure where the finger groove is on the outside of the bracket and pull it off...

I was not aware of any finger groove or locking tab - it came out before without trouble - I'll have a look. Sorry for my ignorance on the subject, I used to have caseless slotket.
So the finger groove is on the side of the two things beside the slot which the slotket slides into?

Hey, the plastic on one of the clips got fatigued and broke off. The finger grooves on the retention mechanism did nothing - after breaking a clip, i could see how it all worked and use a matchstick to unlock the other side - after getting it out, i removed the clipy stay in mechanism thingy from the slotket - it was just in the way....

Well atleast u got it off, haven't had too much experience with SLot 1 myself, well I've put in a few slocket cpu's...never truly used those those little retention clips. Only once on a PIII-450....glad u got it out though, now u can put the PEP-66 on properly.

When the PEP66 arives.... unlike the RDJD, it has a raised part which will allow it to mount properly....

I got a huge full tower ATX case today.... heh heh

Heh, hope u have long IDE cables, one thing that made me reconsider getting a full-tower. I'm looking at a HX-45 was Aopen, midi-tower with a 300PS for about $70 USD(this is quite good for Aus). Although I'm still shopping.....

The IDE cable for the CD drive just reaches the board when it's in the top bay....
I was in Peat's (shop in Dublin) and I was lookin at cases and asking bout them. None were just plain cases (what I like - don't like this fancy colouredy stuff) and all had at least a bit of coloured plastic or something on the front. I asked bout the midi cases and the guy said, during the course of the conversation "i mean, you wouldn't even get them cheaper in Maplin's...."

So, over to Maplin's - hey look, cheaper cases.... I bought a full tower with a 230watt PSU for £50 - I had a 300watt DEER psu I bought when 300watt's were just starting to be needed for Athlon's and were still expensive. I put that in it and I have a lovely full tower case. I have all my stuff in it now and it won't fit under my desk - i have it beside it
