is there a FREE plug-in that lets you rip cd's as mp3 files for windows media player 9?

umm, there are programs to do it, but don't know of any free ones for windows. I think WMP will let you rip to WMA format though.
remember WMP9 includes new DRM software, which may affect your ability to play or rip copyrighted material, as per the WMP and WinXP EULAs.

WMP only does wma for free. get musicmatch or freerip to rip cds for free. musicmatch.com and download.com

Yeah, I agree with sixf00t4. You don't have to use WMP. If you really like it as a player for some reason, you can still play your music in WMP, but download a free program like MusicMatch or LAME to rip your music at high quality for free. MP3 or OGG or something.
