Win95 and IE6

Working on this Win95 box (pentium 233) circa 1997(HP 8240).
It's running AOL 4.0 and IE 5.

The owner says there isn't enough system resources to upgrade to AOL 8.0.

My question is: Would there be any advantage to upgrading to IE6? (Will IE6 even work with Win95?) And is there a network distribution download,(like XP SP1)? I really wouldn't want to download IE6 on a dialup, if I can dwnld via cable modem, and burn it to disk, and then transfer to this dinosaur.

This lady got laid off last Sept., so I'm trying to get this box in shape, so maybe when she's ready to upgrade, I can build her a new box.

When I went to scan the disk and defrag, Windows said it had been 1860+ days since the last scan!

Thanks for your help.

- Bill

Thanks GZ:

I'm running memtest on it now. Doesn't take too many proggies running in the background to bog this system down.

Thanks again.

Yep, GroundZero3 is right. IE6 won't install on Win95.

As an answer to your other question though, yes there is a network install for IE6. Most Windows Updates and MS software can be downloaded in that way. Updates, SPs, Patches etc. can be found at the Windows Update Catalog part of Microsoft's site. I don't have the exact link, but you can download the 'network' install of IE6 from the MS site.
