Why do you keep pointing to pages, MD? Numbers don't mean anything if you can't hear em'....

MD, let me tell you a story.
It all began one day in september when i decided to look at new speakers. First stop i made, Circuit City, i looked at those Altec lansing ones. Nice, impressive, clean sound. I then went to Best Buy, i looked at the klipsch. Pressed the play song button, got blown back 5 feet and feel into some hd's, after i regained my senses, i walked over and turned down volume. Listened, and was blown away by clarity, but incredible power. Ever since then, I have been saving for these speakers, and i finally ordered them on monday, and they should be here by tomorrow . Promedia 2.1 kick @ss, and idk what you say, because these are great speakers.

Numbers mean nothing if the components are crap. Anyone could build a sub that works down to 10Hz, but if the materials arent' good they're gonna sound like crap. If the quality or materials aren't there to back up the numbers it'll never sound good.

Excelllent Reviews: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Klipsch ProMedia 4.1
Assorted: http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/reviews.html
You guys missed a few other favs as well, such as systems from Polk Audio, Boston Acoustics, and MidiLand. Not to sound like a broke record, but I enjoy my Abit SP50 5.1 system for movies and audio. Metal cone sats and center with wave-form style metal cabinets. Small form factor, but clear sound. Then again, it is not likely that you will find this system on any retail shelves in the US.

Which AL's did you listen to? Not many stores carry the 621's. Face it, Altec's been around for ages. They know how to make good speakers. Their quality is really good. The 621's are a good system. True, the Klipsch maybe has better tone but downstairs isn't very good.
This site gives awesome reviews and stuff: http://www.extremetech.com/category2...,838538,00.asp
They tested the 221's and the Z340's like I did, side by side. They got the same results.
This is their review os the Z680's: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...,838569,00.asp
They do very very reliable tests and use sophisticated instuments and stuff. These guys know what they're doing.
The 621's are reccommended on this page: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...,662503,00.asp
Logitech basically holds high ground everywhere, at least on this site. Still, the AL 621's have the best reviews everywhere.

haven't test heard the altec model mentioned here, but i've always thought they made a real quality product as well.

Fine, but my preference is being able to feel the subwoofer in your bones, not just having a thunper in a box on the floor. Still, sound quality is good on those.

Then you obviously haven't heard/felt the Klipsch sub-woofer (whether you SAY you have or not.)

you're kidding right?! i have the subwoofer control set to 10 oclock (not even at the halfway mark). plenty of bass...
when i burn cd's, i have to turn down the volume because the vibration of the sub can be felt if i put my finger on the computer case (which happens to be 3ft from the sub). and i don't even have the volume turned up that high either.
