Yes I agree. You need a processor in the socket to power up. It completes the ciruit needed for the board to get power to everything... including the power switch. For everyones info, you don't need ram or anything else to powerup. Thats why you when you build you test the processor and listen to beep codes to make sure it is working.

one suggestion.. make sure that your cmos jumper reset is not set 'on' and its in the off position... thats the same problem that i had with my system at first when i built it, checked and my cmos jumper was on... after i set it to off, it boots and starts up..

i dont know they still havent did nething so im about to just give up on it

I have another problem i have a little hewlett packard vectra and i put a modem in it and it keeps saying that i dont have a dialtone so it wont connect can neone pleez help me with that problem if you could i sure would appreciate it

Are the cables connected to the correct ports on the telephone? Does the wall port work? It's really easy to get the ports on the modem mixed up.

the back of your modem should have two ports. One should have a little telephone next to it, and the other should have a picture of a phone jack or something on it.

The one with a picture of a phone jack is the one that should be plugged into the wall.

One thing to try is to take the cable out of a working phone, leave it plugged into the same wall jack, and plug it into your modem. That way you know both the wire and the wall jack work.
