For the electricians out there - Power question

So I know its against the rules to daisy chain surge protectors.

I'm trying to find a loophole now. I have two surge protectors off the two outlets on this side of the room - one goes to my computer desk, and the other is a few feet away powering other stuff. The one that goes to my computer desk is actually a UPS.

Now this UPS only has 6 plugs. I'm currently in need of more than 6 plugs for my computer desk. Short of buying an 8 plug surge protector, what can I do?

An option I was thinking about was putting a power center in series with the UPS; a power center is essentially a surge protector strip without surge protection. Does this bypass the "no surge protection daisychaining" rule?

These are all very low watt devices, so I won't overload the circuit or anything. Just wondering about the surge protection. So far I have - Computer, LCD monitor, speakers, network switch, and cordless mouse charger. Thats only 5, but the rest of my devices have transformers and wont fit in the last spots. Other devices I need to plug in are cordless phone, cell phone charger, and clock.

And what about those taps that change a 2 wall outlet into 6 plugs? can I use one of those before the surge?

The guy in home depot said I'm not supposed to daisy chain anything, but I'm not sure if he was talking about overloading the circuit or cancelling out the surge protection.

If neither of these works, is there any way to get a large number of plugs while still using a UPS - Althought upgrading my 6 plug UPS to an 8 plug UPS is an option, its probably one of the most expensive solution, and doesnt give must room for additional plugs in the future. Is there anything short of installing more outlets in the wall I can do without breaking any "electrician rules"?

I don't see what's the problem of connecting Surge Protectors in series.....as long as you don't overload the circuit....

My UPS is connected to a Surge Protector & it works fine....

And at the office I've had 3 surge protector daisy-chained together to power up 2 scanners, 1 CD-burner & a laser printer (& other small stuff)......no problems.....

just hook a exstension cord with more then 2 outlets to the protector,like me,i've got my tower,monitor,scanner,printer,tv,3 vcr's,a quad deck stereo system,my labtop charging station,playstation,and a desk lamp running on a 6 outlet surge protector,i just use some of those exstension cords with 3 outlets at the end. my father wired the my whole house so i know about some things "stick your tounge to a 9 volt battery...yum my tounge tingles" i've never blown a circut yet,my stereo system will blow you through the wall when the volume is at 1/4 well if you need to know more ask me.

PS.. i have a DVD player hooked to the setup,i use the 3 vcr's to record dvds,feed the dvd signal through 2 vcrs and record with the last one,that cancells out that macro-vision thingy,making the picture clear,just use a amp between each one.
