Kids TV out and cable length

Hi I have a question about the maximum cable length for connecting the RCA video out from my graphics card to the RCA video in on the TV. The TV is like 20 feet from the computer and I want to know the maximum distance video out would work. Thanks.

as far as im aware there is no limit, however for best quality you would want to keep the cable as short as possible - say under 1 metre in length

OK do you know if you can buy the cable and use some extra wire to lenghten it and if so what are the specs on the wire I should use.

If you were going to go for a long length of cable I would go for a good quality shielded cable, while this will cost more it will be worth it.

However you could always make your own cable up or get on made fo you.

Its not worth buying a cable and then using extra wire to lengthen it.

Long cables arent that bad, i run my tv out through 10m of normal cable and the picture looks alright.

Ive used 20 feet of pieced together crappy rca from all the extra cables you get when you buy vcr's or dvd players. I have never used good quality cable so I have no idea what the difference would be I wish they would have a display like in circut city or some place that had the two side by side. If your willing to shell out some cash I have always heard good things about monster cables.

chris....i've done some thinking about the same issue. i'm actually planning on doing the same thing only my tv is about 50ft plus away. i know that will be pushing it, but it's worth a shot. one site i found has a 50 ft s-video with R/L RCA cables for a reasonable price. haven't ordered from them and have no idea about the company, but here's the link. hope it helps.

the 25 ft. cable is ~$27 + shipping..........if u need a little more length they have the 50 ft. for $40.

i've always heard that monster cables are really overkill and overpriced. any decent shielded cable should be more than adequate. someone can correct me if i'm wrong.
