It doesn't seem to hard to reuse the RCA cable(I'm not talking about the Svideo ones) ends correct me if i'm wrong but it looks like you can just splice some cabling in it to make it longer(I know those RCA ends are cheap but i'm lazy and would rather use what is around me than pick em up) and for the shielded wire I'm pretty sure I have some around here so I guess I'm set if I could reuse those ends.

The ones that are supplied with the consoles are molded onto the wire, trying to reuse them would be frustating at best. the ones I put the link to are the best way to go. They will accomade the large size of the outside of the rg-6 cabble. Your console ends wont. Also keep in mind when using RCA cables even though audio RCA cables look the same they are not. RCA video cables are made for 75 ohm signals, audio are not. BTW you need to solder the center 18 gauge wire of the coax to the inside center pin. The outside wire mesh sheilding needs to be soldered to the outside connector.

You are better off with ends like the ones at RS (above link).
I've tried the cheaper RS ones, they really dont work well with a heavy coax like rg-6.

What about soldering the Wire leads from the RCA video cable ends to the cable?

I've done what chris is talking about... But, what I did was, I had some RCA patch cables from VCRs and such. I just cut them in half, spliced them into a 8-conductor CAT5 cable(the kind you would run for a network), and that worked great! It wasn't shielded, but it's twisted pair so it cuts down on the crosstalk between signals... It's probably not quite as good of quality, but for most TVs you won't notice any difference... Or you could use RG6 or equiv. for the video, and the CAT 5 or even regular phone wire for the audio. (Unless it's digital audio...)
He's only running it about 20 Ft. so unless he's a videophile, I don't think he needs real "nice" cable. I think he's trying to use what he has on hand, without having to buy anything extra...

Spliced it into a cat 5 cable Wouldn’t it be better with RG6 since its a single large wire and easier? I have no idea just askin. I like WB's way I think I will make one to replace my 20 footer piecer.

Those cables looked very professional... I might use them for my recording studio patch cables... And they're alot better and cheaper than the ones I'm using now!!
Thanks for the link, Inferior!

hehe, no prob, I'm ordering a 50 foot roll and a pile of connectors and using them for everything, but most importantly a 25 foot length for my subwoofer that I'm picking up next week, a Velodyne 12", can't wait!!!
