Appears to be a critical system file (-edit- Sorry, it isn't ). But it also appears it can be 'tied' to applications. Try the taskman /SVC thing and see waht you get (I don't have XP, so I couldn't tell you off the bat).

Ahhhh....just thought of something. Instead of Adaware, try running this program: http://security.kolla.de/
It's called Spybot search and destroy, and right now is upgraded more than Adaware.
Also, try running XP anti-spy: http://www.xp-antispy.de/
Get rid of the Messanger program (if you use MSN messsanger, dont do this unless you want to switch to Trillian or AIM)

I tried helping his DISABLE SVCHOST Indexing Service and he has to install SP1 to get rid of it. Have you done that yet?

No, just saw his other post. Ya, I'd suggest getting rid of SVCHOST first, but it could be a fault somewhere else.
You could alos try the old gamer trick. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and close all tasks that are not system critical (in 98/ME this is Systray and Explorer, in 2K/XP, not sure.)

Actually, svchost.exe can be alot of different things. Some of them you probably wouldn't want to close. Instead of using TM, do this click "Start", then "Run", type in "services.msc" and click "OK". You can click on any of the processes on the list and see what they do. I think I have some links about this. I'll take a look.
