Strange Mouse Pointer

I am using Windows XP Pro.

My mouse is a Microsoft wireless optical mouse.

I have a strange thing with my mouse pointer.

As soon as I do anything with my CD RW or DVD drive (just open and close again is enough) my mouse pointer changes.

I have a flashing small disk symbol right close to the mouse pointer. It is flashing perhaps every 0.5 seconds.

As soon as I reboot the machine (and do nothing with my drives), the flashing symbol is gone.

Besides this everything works perfectly fine. It just an annoyance.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Peter

Mine does the same thing when the drives are searching to see if there is anything in it. After it searches it should go away. It's just to let you know there is activity in it.

yes that is normal when you put media into your CD-R drive. I don't know if their is a fix. I just try to stay away from usuing my CD-RW for anything but burning.

Funny thing is, the symbol only shows up if I have NO disk in my drive.

The moment I put a disk in, it is quiet.

I thought about that Windows would search for a disk. But why does it do it forever.
