Orinoco Gold

Anyone have any experience with this card? Thoughts on it? I'm thinking about picking on up after X-Mas for a wireless network I'm setting up.

Plus access on a handheld at University courtesy of the WiFi network they're working on.

i have the card! i love it to death. i have a linksys wap 3.0 and couldn't barely get any distance on it when i went downstairs of my house. but when i got my Orinoco Gold im downstairs right now using it with excellent reception. the card has a scanning range of 1750 feet as they advertise. i reccomend it.

one thing i do not like about it is i attach an antenna on mine cause there is a slot and the pigtails are VERY easy to break. and they are pretty damn expensive. but if your not into the whole antenna thing then you should be good to go.

I don't think you'll regret the Orinoco Gold choice, they're supposed to be very good.

Me, I'm cheap, so I have Prism2 based stuff (which works just fine)

I have about 30 in use and they work great.

Only negative, if you want an add on antenna you have to buy an Orinoco antenna because of the relatively propriatary(sp?) connector. There antennas are good, just not as cheap as some others I believe.
