Recovery Disk for HP Pavillion 6330

I had to install a new hardrive on a HP Pavillion that was given to me. However I do not have the recovery disk that came with this computer and I cannot get it to work properly. I tried contacting HP for a copy of the recovery disk, but they no longer have it in stock. Do you know where I could go to buy a copy?

how old is this computer? hp should will generally be able to supply you with a replacement cd...even if they charge you for it.

otherwise, i'm afraid you will have to rely on someone seeing this post and being good hearted enough to burn you a copy. if you had a hp vectra, i might have been able to help you out.

you may want to create a new thread with the topic stating you are looking for a pavillon recovery cd. be sure to state the exact model if you do.

If you can provide the "Product Key Code" which is located on the outside of the original HP manual, then perhaps you have hope.

Without the Key Code I'm afraid you're gonna have to buy a generic W98 disc and then hunt high and low for all the drivers for the motherboard..

let us know what you have..

Edit;
Prester John, this unit was sold in 1998, came with a 333 mhz CPU and 32mb RAM

If you cannot provide the product key code, then perhaps this site dedicated to the Pavillion series with their "HP" forum might be able to provide you with the needed software or links..

Unfortunately I do not have the manual . I did try to install Windows 98, but for some reason it is telling me that the drivers for the C and A drive are using MS dos and that that will cause the computer not to work properly. I've partition the disk and re-formatted it about 3 times, but it is still not working properly. I believe that the CPU is 300MHz(based on the specs I got from HP), but the computer registers 150Mhz. It also keeps freezing up anytime I try to view the C drive.

Send a message via Yahoo to paramufay
for a 300 mhz system you do not need the recovery disk.

win 98se will perform just fine on this system.

zero fill the HD and fdisk.

using a win 98se boot disk choose option 1 start win 98 from cd rom.

you may need to download video,audio, or modem drivers from the net.
