What Os's?, cables?, are you using a router? Will this be going through a Hub?, a Switch? need more info before people can really help you...

network? if you have a network allredy set up and the computers can "see" eachother then its easy. if no network is present then things get tricky. which do you have and we can go from there.

Edit: Blast beaten to it but same info is not bad twice.

ok i can give you a simple way. if tcp/ip and IPX/SPX are installed on both then its a simple matter of Start > Run > \\Computername at this point it may ask you to log in using the target computers username and pass if they are not the same.

also you need to have the drive/Dir shared on the computer you wish to access from the other one. Example if from my laptop to my desktop i want to access my E: drive. my desktop has to have the E drive shared.

Easy in Win XP simple peer to peer.
if you can already Ping the other systems all you need to do is right click the Hard disk, and click Sharing. click the link that says something about sharing the drives.
click share, and you will see the share name pop up in the text box as C, orD, or what ever drive you are sharing.
Another thing. if you can ping, but cannot see the systems on the network, adding the Netbeui protocol helps that considerably.
you can find instructions on how to add netbeui in XP Here.
good luck, and have fun!
