If you can I would check them out at a store so you can get a feel for the Cam you want. Anything under 150 bucks is going to be slow. Press the button wait 5 seconds, and finally it snaps the picture. Hard to get those shots of Kids, and the crazy things they do when you have to wait for the camera. I have the Canon powershot G2. cost 900 bucks, but is 4 megapixel, and is point, and shoot with many extra cool features, but the most important I think is press the button. Click. not press the button...(missed the shot)....click.
Good luck with whichever you get.

Visit Ritz camera. Then, on the right side of the page, click sort by your price, then start shopping. I saw a Fuji FinePix 2600z listed for $179 last week, but it is gone now. I paid $270 last February-ish for the same camera, and my biggest regret is it is a slow ISO value. ISO 100 equivalent is the same as using the slowest film made today: lots of blurry pictures, even from hand shake.

$150 doesn't get you much.
Spend another $100 and get the Fuji S3000.

Only problem are those too small and expensive XD cards!

I agree with videobruce. The S3000 has an SLR lens mounted on a digital CCD board and offers the best of the SLR camera features (if that is what you fancy). The quality is outstanding. Basically with digital cameras you get what you pay for. I think for 150 you will be glad that you saved a few bucks but will quickly grow tired of it. Basically most Olympus products are good but I would stay away from anything less than 2 MP.

The 2 things I don't like about Fuji are XD cards (expensive and too small) and no choice in compression (too high). Even the 5000 doesn't give you a choice.

Don't know about the 7000, but that is well over his price range.

I friend got a 5000 (couldn't find a 3000 before Xmas locally) and I played around with it for awhile. Not bad, but still the issue of high compression (which can be changed in the firmware) has come up in 3 or 4 reviews I have read! Too bad, I guess I could get use to the XD card (don't know about removing it from the slot, I would rather get a larger one and leave it there and D/L to a computer though it would be slower. Better than damaging the card or slot itself or worse yet loosing the card!!

Again $150 really is way to low to get something decent you won't regret later. Get something you won't sell 6 months later because you grew out of it!
