I am ******* if I know how you are supposed to obtain the latest "Patch" or "Hotfix" to install on a machine you cant login to. What if its a laptop, you cant just take out the harddisk and put it in another system as a slave and boot from that.

lsass.exe error loop at bootup

Count me in as one more in the crowd of folks who now know the difference between IS ASS and lsass.

It was not my pc that would not boot but a near and dear friend. Both of us looking at the same 6 useless options in F2, F8, F12 over and over.

All remedies posted were very educational and clearly illustrated the range and depth of this "minor" issue. More work than I was looking for at the time of this post however.

Thank you all.

The hour was late. Told friend to re-install XP (new stuff-not much lost) and go to sleep.

I never have a problem with my TRS-80.

Thanks again

i found the lsass.exe file by going to run and typing in Regedit
it will pull up a registry editor and from there you should save a backup. Then hit ctrl f and it will search for a few minutes and will eventually find a cluster of files. Im not exactly sure what to do with the file. i dont know what will happen if i delete it.

easy fix put in your xp disk change bios to boot from cd and then let it run at some point it will ask you what you want to do and then just press r and it will repair the install
and then your good to go

this mysterious 'administrator' password

Ok, I don't know why but when I run the Recovery option on the XP setup disk, it asks me for an administrator password. Originally, my BIOS admin. password was blank so I figured "hey, set it and it'll work!" Of course that was too easy of a solution. Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated as I'm not techie enough to go mucking around in my computer's data files but desperatly do not want to nuke the disk to re-install the whole thing - thanks!!

lsass.exe Object Not Found error

Thanks Frogger90. This worked for me.

I just booted from my setup CD, then went to the command line via the repair option. Then followed the Instructions in the link posted by frogger.

It WILL solve your problem! (at least it solved mine anyway)

Doing this is basically like manually performing a "system restore". I'll keep an eye on this thread and help you all as much as I can. I was just in your situation and know how you feel. I want everyone to get this solved, its annoying!

email me at: webmaster@mephistoscloset.com and I'll help you out.

I also have the same problem with isass.exe today. When I tried to run the Recovery option on the XP setup disk, it also asked me for an administrator password which I didn't set it up. What can I do? Really appreciated.

Talk LSASS.exe error

Believe it or not I found a way to fix this problem without using the recovery console!!

I used windows ERD commander 2003 and booted to the ERC program on CD, I then did a system restore back to the beginning of December, booted up normally to windows and it worked.

I then booted to the ERD commander again and attempted to "undo" the system restore I just did, it worked fine.

I then just rebooted into windows again and it seems to work fine no problems!!

OF course you have to have access to the ERD Commander program to do this, but it worked!!!

Hope this helps somebody else out!!!!

Dwight

I see the last post in this thread was two weeks ago. Has everyone solved their problems or just totally given up?

My daughter's HP Pavilion 7915, Win XP Home, is doing the same thing (lsass.exe error loop at bootup) after a nondestructive recovery from the recovery console. Anything new to report?
