help with Motherboard and Cpu

Hey all please I need opinions as I am so sick of my computer and it's problems which what it has shouldn;t give a prooblem at all..
I seem to always by the worst motherboard or one with alot of problems... I always stayed on AMD'S side but I will cross over if need to..

ASUS A7v333
1Gb PC 2700
XP 1700 CPU
Chaintek Geforce 4MX
Had Abit Geforce 4 but the fan has died
WD 60 and 80GB drives
Lite on dvd
40X12X32 liteon cdrw
only other thing in it is a realtek network card...
windows Xp

no matter how many times i reinstall Windows it is just slow as hell lags big time...
reboots constantly...
I have tried all the different drivers..
Before this I had Abit board which died so I decided to get teh newest one and go back with ASUS... Which I gave my wife my old A7V133 which now looks like the best board so far as far as running and no problems...

I am wanting to change now and need opinions.
I like the A7V333 because it has Usb 2.0 and firewire intergrated sound and network is fine..
for the combo which can be either AMD or Intell I do not care at this point!!!!
Like to stay around $300.00 to $400.00 on the combo of Cpu and MB...

also since i have now 1 GB of DDR 2700 that would be nice to use that also...

Please i do not post on here alot just read you helpfull posts ..But I am in desperate of opinions as I can not afford to go with my opinion again...

Thanks

Do you have a GOOD powersupply?

With all that stuff you are running, 2 hard drives, 2 optical drives etc...you need a good quality 400 watt power supply.

Weak or underpowered supplies can cause all kinds of random reboot type issues.

Sounds like you have a good setup though, should be smokin fast...not problematic.

Power supply was my first thought, too. Now I need to ask, is your BIOS setup properly? Why don't you try running your DDR at PC 2100 speeds? (266 instead of 333) What brand is the RAM?

What do you have cooling the CPU? Can you check the temperature that your PC is running at?

Change the fan on your old GeForce and you should be all set with that.

I would go with the SOYO Kt33 Plat board, it has integrated 6 channel sound, RAID, wake on LAN, onboard 10/100 ethy, can handle up to xp2600's pc2700 ram, 2 RAID controlers (which you can use as regular IDE controlers) and 2 regular IDE controlers, USB 2.0 and it looks sweet =+]

Sorry to hear of your problems.

It surprises me though because I have the following system & it does NOT crash. Rock Solid!!!

ASUS A7v333
512mb Corsair XMS 3000
XP 1800+ CPU
Leadtek Geforce 4 MX 440
2 x Segate 60G in Raid Mirror.
Lite on dvd
40X12X48 liteon cdrw
Win 2000 Pro
Enermax 350w PS
Volcano 7+ HSF
ROCK SOLID!!!

Hope you sort out the problems.

What cooling do you have???

Check the Hard Drives. If they're OEM in particular I'd make sure they aren't messed up. I had a problem EXACTLY like yours and it was a bad HD.
