Kids IE5.5 new window problem

I'm running Windows ME and IE5.5 on my other machine, when I click on a link on a page and a new window opens, the window just kind of hangs - I have to press the stop button then the refresh button and then everything loads up OK.

Is there a setting I have missed somewhere?

That's odd. You're not missing a setting ... IE should make the new window by default. This works on a fresh install of IE without adding any patches, upgrades, etc.
Do you have any weird network settings (proxies, etc)?? That might affect it somehow.

The problem was happening from when I got the computer, as far as I can tell I've got all the settings the same as on my Win 98 machine. The two machines are networked but the problem was there when I first got the second machine. I think it is just one of those obscure type problems that cannot be pinned down!
