Running an isp?

Hi Everybody,

I just talked to a guy that runs his own ISP and has about 1200 customers. He told me that he could get me a server in a colocation facility for about 100$ a month. He told me he runs a 32K steady stream. I have a few questions about this:

1. Is 100$ a month a good deal?
2. If I were to consider trying to run my isp what else would I need to set up? and esimated costs. Access numbers ect. I have no idea.
3. Is running a dail up isp doomed in the future (everyone going DSL or Cable)?
4. He mentioned UUnet being the backbone what is UUnet? I have heard of it, but don't know what it is? Sry if this is a dumb question.

Thanks,

Jutah

I'm sure you have heard of Worldcom in the news lately, it is a branch of Worldcom and here is some hosting info.
