Thanks for the heads up on what you thought of Gentoo Jkrohn.

SpookyEddy didn't seem to care too much for Gentoo either. He'd rather work with LFS.

Think I'll try Debian next.

I do like gentoo - along with debian, Slack & LFS it is one of my favorite distros. However debian Sid is running great for me & LFS cvs is looking like my next project on my test box so gentoo will have to wait

I stand corrected... I'll have to be a bit more careful with my statements!

well I am not starting anything here, but maybe someone at gentoo got miffed at what jkrohn said

check this out

a full set of instructions for updating to the new 1.4rc1

+ (crouse - I think you'll like this) a live eval cd with ut2003k for linux

...but I still agree with the x degrees of knowledge and experience being an important factor in preferences

well I see that didn't light a fire under anyone's tail

so I tried it myself

224MB ISO download in > 30 mins (didn't check exactly)

ISO burned in about 4 minutes on a scsi plextor 10/12/32

booted to the config screen in 2 mins on a p2 400

ip config done in 1 min

x-setup done in 1 min and arrived at a ready-made fluxbox (bare)

ut2003k up in > 1 min

configured in 2 mins

now have lan enabled ut2003k for the 3 pcs that can handle it

this is a live eval cd so it does not install anywhere - it's not a good example of linux as a desktop, but does show that linux will run games and do it well

excuse me, I have bots to frag
