This is weird

Hi all
Couple of days ago I was looking at the msi8853 at the geeks site. Went to the nvidia to re-educate myself on there lastest offerings. I ran there "anilizer" to see how my xstacy gf2-pro compared and they listed it as a generic 256 card. Whatttt? So I checked under hardware manager to see what it was listing under display types and it was listing it as "Monster Sound II PCI Audio". What the ???? So I changed the driver to the latest nvidia drivers, OK. Today I went back to the nvidia site and ran the test again and guess what, my display type is being listed again as a "Monster Sound II PCI Audio".
Running Win98se / XP Pro on a daul boot machine. Any Ideas?

Thanks
WB

So what OS is the card acting up on?? When you install the nvidia drivers, does the card show correctly before running the test?

Sorry
Garbage day and when I came back in to the comp it said my time/page had expired? Never had that happen at techimo. Only thought that happened at a secure server site.
Anyhow this is only happening under win98.

Do you even have a Monster sound card?

If you do, you might need to relocate it to a different PCI slot.

If it's showing up in 98SE, try uninstalling the drivers via Add/Remove Programs. DON'T reboot. Go into "\WINDOWS\INF\OTHER" and delete any .ini files that have NVidia in the name or in the file itself. You can open them in Notepad. After you delete the .ini file/s then reboot. Try installing the latest "stable" driver for your card from Xtasy site and see if it fixes it.

Are you doing an automatic driver upgrade in XP? Try doing it the manual way to see if it doesn't name it something different.

Oh yeah, does the card seem to be working correctly?

DiamondMM Legacy support .

2K support . I know you're running XP, but this might help as well.

Do a Google search of "MX300 XP" and you should get quite a few hits.

As a last ditch effort, if you can't get it to show up right with above actions, remove the Monster card and see if it doesn't fix it then.

Well, so far so good. Moniter seems to be fuzzy after all the tweaks. Running 1024x768 @ 75hz on a veiwsonic ps-790. Have to see if it remains stable over the next couple of days. Thanks for the help!
