Running a DHCP Server in XP

Is there a way to run a DHCP server in Windows XP, so I can get my linux box non the internet. For some reason Cox Broadband doesn't like Linux/Unix, and wont support them, and have managed to set it up so Linux/Unix boxes cannot use DHCP to log on to the network. Any one know a good software, or HOw-To on how I should go about doing this?

Well are you using a proxy server or ICS or what to share the connection to the linux box?
When you setup ICS on XP I *Think* is automaticly turns on a DHCP server.

This will be the best place to go in anycase

you could also buy a small router. If anything give the linux box a static ip behind the router

That sounds rather odd. I can understand why they don't support it but not why they would try to block it from working. Generally the DHCP server doesn't care what the OS is when giving out IP addresses. It may the MAC address that is the problem. Many cable companies use a MAC control list so only know MAC addresses get an IP address. If that would be your case, tell them you changed NICs and give them the new MAC address so they can enable it within the DHCP server.

its not the MAC address, if i boot the machine into Windows XP or Windows 98, it connects just fine, dont even have to change a single setting. As well, I can bring friends over, and they can just plug their windows boxed into the HUB and go, had like 4 NICs on at the same time, didnt have to call anyone about a MAC address, i dont think thats the problem.

In any event, is the a program that will let me run a DHCP server from my Windows XP box, so i can connect to the internet through the windows box, on my Linux box?

As mentioned by ChoaticWhisper, XP has ICS which has a mini-DHCP server as part of it. It will allow the shared Internet connection but you need two interfaces.
