Painting computer case
I've got a question for you all.
I have plan on painting flames on my case after I get my system.
However, I am BUYING the system, NOT building it on my own.
Do you think that I will any problems painting the case with all the components still inside. I do know that EVERY hole in the case will need to be covered so no paint gets inside, but than that, do you think I will have any problems??
Feedback is appreciated!!
Thanx

it can be done, but it would be much easier to take whatever piece of the case your painting off, otherwise you cant really paint it very well

Yeah id strip it completely---lots of sanding will be neccessary and if you do it correctly you will probably be "wet" sanding...

Well, my cousin does car paint jobs, so I think he will know exactly what do for this, as he is painting traditional yellow, orange and red flames, pinstriped with blue.

Back to what ZGF said, about taking off the piece to be painted. That is actually hard to do considering the design.
I'll post a link to give you an idea of what it will look like.

I just saw a page a few days ago where a guy sells that Alien type case pre-flamed as new---those mailbox flames look real good, that type of work takes alot of talent that I sure dont have...

Well my cousin has been doing this for quite some time, as he is moddin' a 1955 Chevy wagon to his own specs. He says that traditional flames are the easiest type to paint, and on a computer it won't be that hard.
K-O-P,
Would you happen to have the link to that page you saw??
I wouldn't mind takin a gander at it.

Ya got a tough one here, Stone.
As TKOP said, you will likely be "wet-sanding" the case, esp. the primer coat. I just can't see any way that you could keep the moisture and paint dust out of the system.
I think that you don't have a choice here, you will have to strip the box before you begin.
