I did a Google search on Intel 820 MTH and I see that they were more than Intel boards effected. Seems that others (asus for one) that use the Intel 820 chipset with SDRAM are effected by a noise problem. Looks like the 820 was originaly designed for RDRAM (like Dokeman said). They inserted a MTH (memory translator hub) to enable this chipset to use SDRAM.

Everything I see says a small percentage of these 820 chipset boards with SDRAM have the problem and the only fix was a recall. Only Intel wasn't calling it a recall. You could not deal directly with them, you had to return the board to where you got it (system builder, online retailer, local retailer, or I even saw a page at HP that said they were replacing the boards in their PC's with this setup)

Mike

Problem was that the MTH chip itself was screwed up. There had been a huge recall wave from everybody who made boards using them - ASUS, Intel, you name them. Back then, Intel exchanged the CC board for the VC model with a free stick of RDRAM. Maybe you can still return yours, it's certainly worth a try.

regards, Peter

I guess there won't be too many left - everyone and their dog has been returning them at the time.
