WMIPRVSE.EXE trojan?

I'm running Windows XP Professional and BlacIce PC Protection.
Every now and again BlackIce reports wmiprvse.exe as a possible Trojan. This has only started happening in the last week and I've been using XP since it was first released. I've done a complete scan with NAV 2002 but found no viruses. Anyone seen this before?

I am getting the same message from BlackIce. http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;319322 lists this a legitimate WMI exe. Check your version: 09-Apr-2002 14:54:08 5.1.2600.42 203,264 Wmiprvse.exe

Is it saying that the trojan is on your machine & attempting to access the net or is it telling you that your machines ip addy has been scanned by someone looking for machines infected with that trojan?

If its the later then I wouldn't worry, just shows your firewall might actually be stopping something. Otherwise I would have a quick hunt on google & see if that file has any reason to a) be on your system and b) access the net.

This is no longer an issue as I've stopped using BlackIce in favour of Sygate
