OE problem

Ok all here is one that has me stumped.
got sick of my clutter so i blew my hd clean and reinstalled xp.

now after i set up my outlook express and try to get my mail it asks me for my password everytime. the checkbox to save the password was NOT checked and greyed out, so i went into the account options and checked it as well as typed in my PW. applied and exited. rebooted and loaded OE, to receive the same message asking for my PW, but now the box to save it was still greyed out BUT it was now checked. it wouldn't log in tho, just kept asking me. after i type it in again it works, but it won't hold my PW. no matter how many times I try to enter the password and save it as soon as i click ok it's gone.

what gives?
I know what i am doing but it isn't working
any hints? or ideas?

Try deleting the account and adding a new account and see if that helps.

I'm not sure if OE depends on Client for Microsoft Network's password caching or not. Do you have the client installed in your network devices?

If you are running XP Pro make sure that you are signed in as an ADmin or have Admin Privaledges...

I am not sure how XP home works in this manner.
