im heading off to college next year and i dont get to bring a tv. viewsonic has this little tv box that u put on top of the monitor or anywhere and lets you watch tv on ur computer, it has rca jacks in the back and comes with a remote. you can watch tv on ur monitor or hook up a PS2 to it. u dont even have to turn on the computer. i was wondering if anyone has it cuz im gonna have to get it or get a tv card

Sounds cool. Just make sure you have a big enough monitor (21" would be nice ) I can get a 21"er around here for $300 so they aren't all that expensive.

I think those things are a little more expensive than tv tuner cards but they should give you better PQ. Plus, you dont have to have your PC on to watch tv, but you probably never turn your PC off anyways...

I havent used one of the external boxes and the ability to watch TV on your moniter w/o the computer powered on sounds nice, but along with most Tuner cards worth their weight you'll get some good software too... i dont know how big of a deal it is to you but most will come with PVR (personal video record(er/ing) software like a TiVo) and the ability to view a screencap of whats on multiple (usually 9 or 12) channels at a time (kind of like a visiual Programming Guide)... if those matter to you, i say go tuner card (i hear the ATI All in Wonder Radeon 8500 is pretty slick, but pricey) if you can live without the PVR and Visiual guide... go with the external box

I agree with the added features with an internal tv tuner card. But I'm not sure what features the external box has....

Hmm, I'm going away to college in the fall too. Where can I get one of these?
