Computer Show/Expos ?????

Anyone ever thought they got a really good deal from one of these? I guess it depends on what your after but for the most part it seems like a bunch of over-priced used junk. There may be a diamond in there but it would take some looking. Doesn't keep me from going but I rarely buy anything.

The thing that comes to mind for me , is that thing they have out there at the expo on 119th, dave . I got a few small deals there, mostly it was fun to look though. Accessories accessories!

Yeah that's the one fyxxer32. I do like looking around but am a little hesitant to buy sometimes because I know they'll be gone in a couple days. You're stuck it would seem with manufacturer support.

Usually when I go to a puter show, I ask the seller if they do the refunds. Usually they're a little bit of a distance away, but they still honor the vendors warranty
I sometimes go to the ones in this area (if you're willing to drive 45-60 mins you can go to one nearly every weekend lol) The ones around here the market pro computer shows, not too bad...
Do sometimes get good deals, but do make sure you know what you're getting... they are salesman after all

I use to go and would buy RAM they would buy back my old RAM. Now I buy Crucial, havent been to one in about two years. I Mostly buy everything over the internet now. Plus the shows in my area don't seem to be as good as they use to be,maybe it me, or maybe they can't compete with the net.

I only buy cases from comp shows, they're cheaper there than online or retail and of course you're saved the cost of shipping. I almost went to a show yesterday in my area for a Heatsink fan and a case for a junker I'm throwing together from spare parts, but I went to a mom and pop comp shop and bought a used case (with PS) and a heatsink fan for 20 bucks. the cost of admission to the show is 7 bucks so I think I made out better. I have found that there are really few bargains to be had at comp shows for the latest and greatest. for cables and fans and other stuff.. the shows are great.

The shows I go to have mostly new products. Only a couple of vendors have used crud. I've gotten some great deals at the Market Pro shows.

The Market Pro shows have been the best that I have seen. I have an annual membership which is a tough cost at fisrt but since i tend to go monthly, more than makes up for the cost of admission since after about 4 visits its paid for. Plus that keeps an extra 8-10 dollars in my pocket each visit after that. I live only about 10 minutes from where the show is held.

The best way to buy from there is to know your product and best pricing you can get from the net. Sometimes you can talk them down on prices. Especially if its a slow show or you buy in quantity.

The accessories are my favorite part too.

I also enjoy the cultural diversity, especially since most of the vendors can barely speak English, if they can speak it at all...

Big tip: Try to buy with cash! You have alot more leverage when asking for discounts.
