hey guys, long time. ok, u guys maybe think i've violated the site's rule, but nope . actually i hope i didnt. im trying to see my network security. i've posted few weeks ago about how to make a simple lan between windows and linux "u can search for it here" ... i've been trying to run SATAN (System Administrator Tools for Analizing Networks)
hmmm.. but most of the time didn't work. i keep getting rpcinfo: can't contact portmapper: RPC: Remote system error - Connection refused msg.
although i have my firewall shutted off. the manual didn't help, once i think i got something working, it stucks and does nothing.
anyone tried it here though?
thanx
hmm.. checking it out, the 1st time i hear of it
..... LOL, why everyone looks at me as if i was a criminal or something , i was trying out saint, but i couldn't untar the saint-3.4.10.tar.gz , with the -xzvf option, i get this error msg . gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
.. with the -xvf -> tar: This does not look like a tar archive
i'm reading about the GFI it's seems damn cool, reading the FAQ. thanx surreal
I use nessus & nmap for testing the security of my LAN. Also chkrootkit is handy for making sure individual workstations haven't been trojaned with any of the more common rootkits. Snort sensors are also useful for picking up unwanted network traffic.
