ManDrake Install Assistance
Greetings. I downloaded Mandrake 8.2. I copied the Install ISO Image (First DL CD) to a CD and attempted to boot with it. No Go. It looks for the Boot File, but then I get a Boot Up failure basically telling me there is no boot up files.
What am I doing wrong? This is really my first time working and playing with Linux as well as an ISO file.
Thanks!
Mortis

hello,
did the DISK burn okay? What does it look like when you open it with a file manager?

Do you have a old cd-rom? I had the same problem, but fixed it by making a boot disk in windows and then have the machine boot of the disk and then look for the cd-rom.

Greetings. I am able to see the CD Rom and the directory shows One large file on it- the ISO image. Hmm, do I have to "extract" the ISO image to a CD with something like ISO Buster, then run it?
Thanks,
Mortis

You have to burn the image onto the CD, you just copied teh ISO onto the CD. With nero you can select "Burn Image" and then select all files and select the ISO, it will do the rest.
I'm not familiar with ISO buster, but if it burns ISO iamges, then it should do the trick.

Alright.. thanks, heres the Deal. I have the Default burn software that came with XP and also have CloneCD. I used XP to copy it- which seems to be the prob, I guess. I cant use CloneCD as it will only do cd's- cant copy straight from HDD. I tried, but it doesnt recognize the ISO image in the folder where Mandrake is being stored. Hope this makes sense.
I hope I am able to figure this out. I dont want to purchase any additional burning software, my current little proggies have be more than adequate up till now- I wont fork out any money for additional software at this pt.
AnyOne know of any other way to copy this right now?
Thanks,
Mortis

I am currently using IMO Buster to extract the ISO image to a temp file. I will then Burn all those files onto a cd and see if that works.

it is saved as an .iso file... CloneCD only recognizes (I dont have full version) clone cd files (.ccd). Atleast, that is my experience sitting over here.
Thanks,
Mortis
