Dual monitor problem in XP.

I am having trouble setting up my dual monitors in XP. It says there are not enough resources available to activate both the cards. What do I do???

I have two video cards in my PC and Windows/Linux can only use both if the PCI card is primary (ie. shows all the boot-up screens). If your's is the same problem then you will have to go into the BIOS and change Primary VGA BIOS to PCI card. This option is in the boot section of the BIOS for me (yours may be different though).

Hi Virus,
When I did mine I had to;
First change the settings for windows to use the basic vga driver,
Then:

1. remove the AGP card,
2. verify in bios that pci card is set as primary or on,
3. Install the pci drivers, and verify(important) you have no problems/errors,
4.Once you are sure that you have a stable machine, THEN,
5. install the AGP card, XP should note this when you boot up and ask you to provide the drivers
Im a bit hazy on the small details because its been a couple of months since I did this.
Good luck.

Looks like you're run out of irq's to assign. You can check out which resource it's lacking (should be) from the device manager, the device in question, options and resources.

Try freeing one up by not assigning an irq to lpt port or usb port, whatever it is you don't need the irq for.

If the irq sharing is enabled, it should not matter whether or not there is enough of them, then it could be some other resource conflict, like dma, or memory address.

Mine got working fine by just inserting the pci adapter and starting the computer. WXP detected the card, installed drivers for it and the monitor, and all I had to do was enable the monitor and extend the desktop onto it.
