Techimo page loading problem...
This has been ongoing for quite awhile. I thought maybe it was system specific, but I have recently rebuilt the system, clean HD and all, and I am still having the problem.
The problem is as follows. When I surf techimo, I tell it to open threads in a new window. If I have images disabled, it loads fine. However, with images loaded, it hangs for like a minute. Even after all the header/ads load, it just sits there, and then Wham, the rest of the page comes up. The same thing happens if I try to open several threads at once. The wierd thing is, is that during this waiting period, I monitor my connection, and it doesn't show a lot of traffic.
Any ideas? I have been dealing with this for almost a month now and I am getting frustrated by it.
WINXP, XP 1800+, 512DDR, IE 6.0.2600.0000

Does it for me, too, Gomer. I'm on dialup, so I thought it was just that. Are you on dialup or cable or what?
Cheers
Mick

Dialup, can't get better than 28K here. Like I said, it seems like it is hanging, not suffering from a lack of data.

I'm on a cable modem, and every once in a while I get the same thing. Page starts, get the headers and stuff, and then about 5-7 seconds later the rest of the page pops in.
Kinda weird, but I'll live with it |

perhaps it could be a problem with IE 6.0 as I found that IE 6 would do this for me on other sites too

hmmmm, I too have noticed similar behavior with other pages, but nowhere near as bad as with techimo. It is wierd too how it loads just fine and dandy with images off. Seems like there oughta be a way to fix this. I hate it. I am getting tired of surfing the web with images off.
I am not too keen on installing other browsers. I tried opera several years ago and it was ok, but I don't to feed windows anything it doesn't like to taste. And Windows can be a real finicky eater.
Hawkeye: I'll give that a try! sounds like a good temporary workaround.
