Reporting Trojan Distributor..

My friend recently had a trojan application installed on his PC (which he did, accidentally... I think it was subseven, masked as another app) .. Anyway, a hacker had some fun with his PC for a few hours.

Is there anything that he can do? He says he got an IP, but who should he report it to?

Thanks.

Unless the guy has a static IP , your chances of finding them are slim at best.
You can narrow down what ISP he is using (as long as they aren't spoofing an addy) and complain to their abuse dept.
I have been getting a LOT of FTP hits on ZA from the France/Germany area, and sent a complaint to the ISP that hosts mosts of the addys, and got a reply back to the tune of "we don't pursue complaints of port/ping sweeps coming from our networks"
Thanks a lot..
You might have better luck if they are using a U.S based ISP.

yup, if its someone who is really knowing what there doing they might be spoofing and the odds of finding them are slim

Even if you find him the police, FBI, won't do a thing about it. They are to swamped with bigger fish to fry.

Change your IP with your ISP if possible and lay low for a bit is all you can do.

Cheers!

Not only that, the police don't care about mere mortals like us
