Need help...

I have Toshiba cable modem connected to my computer using USB. When I unplug the modem from USB port, my computer sometimes restarts. I do not know why this happens. Any suggestions?

what OS? What model? What firmware? What Drivers? have you checked for corrupt system files?, Corrupt Drivers? are you terminating the USB service PRIOR to unplugging the modem? lots more questions

Does the same thing happen with other USB devices being unplugged from the USB port?

I use Windows XP; I have Toshiba PCX1100U modem. I do not have any problems with other USB devices. I do not have any problems with the modem when I connect it to my computer using ethernet cable.

this is different

if other usb devices are not causing an issue then you have isolated it to the modem

a good meter may yield some beneficial results perhaps a bad plug , ground, wire etc voltage drop ???

it could be a faulty usb port on the modem
