Java error ? Fix?

I'm running win 98 SE and IE 5.5, when I go to certain sites that have Java scripts on radio buttons they don't work and in the bottom left is a symbol stating error. Is there any way to reload Java? or update it?

I can go to my othe machine an it seems to work OK.

Paul

P.s Should I upgrade to IE6?

run windowsupdate and download the latest jvm, but it's most likely the person coding the site made a mistake in their code.

try this... do start > run and type msinfo32 and press enter. in the program that comes up, go under tools, and select internet explorer detect and repair (i THINK that's what it's called in 98) and let that try to detect and repair the errors in ie5.5...

(edit) in case you still need it, the latest java vm can be found here.

Aagghh, Fixed/found problem. I had forgotten to mention that I was running Norton Securities (firewall).. That was the cause, now I have to configure the firewall for access rights or just disable it during those session. The later does not worry me so much as I am behind an Router with Nat (SMC 4 port abr)

Doh on me.
