PCI Vid Adapter

Whelp fastback ... U might want 2 cruise over 2 eBAY instead of cruis'n out 2 your local retailer & save yourself a few $$$ Y pay retail?

What vid adapter U choose really depends on how U intend 2 use your computer. Are planning on playing lots of games OR are U gonna B working with a lot of Word or Excel documents?

4 text the answer is simple ... choose a Matrox Millennium G200. U should be able to locate 1 for less than $35.

IF'n U plan on playing lots of games then I suggest U look 4 a 3dfx Voodoo 5 5500 or ATI Rage PCI vid adapter. U should B able 2 locate either of these 4 less than $100.

IF'n U R on a tight budget or U wanna save a few more bucks, then I suggest U try & locate a Nvidia TNT PCI or a ATI Xpert. U should be able 2 find these for less than $50.

Hello All!

I am replying to the question that someone had up a couple of posts about why Celerons don't have AGP slots. I don't have an answer, but I do own a Celeron that HAS and AGP slot. I just got an AGP video card (GeForce FX5200 or something like that), and I went to put it in, and something's wrong. The plastic "strips" or whatever you want to call them that are on the motherboard that are the different slots, I have the 3 PCI ones that are a white-ish color, but my AGP one, there is definitely a slot there, and I can see the dots on the motherboard where it is, but there's not black strip there. I can also see holes.

Help?!
Thanks,
Shaun

Welcome to techIMO
The plastic strips are the slots.
If you don't have a brown one set back a little further than the PCI slots, you don't have one.

The dots and holes you see are probablt where an AGP slot would have been soldered on if you had one.
A lot of all in one celeron boards only have onboard AGP

Thanks for the reply.

The thing is, the description said that it had an AGP slot. It's a Compaq Presario S Series, which doesn't really matter, but I'm probably going to contact Compaq support next.

Anyway,
Thanks again,
Shaun
