XP and CD-RW drives...

Hello again,

I've read that if you have a CD recorder installed on your system, then XP should see it as a CD-R/W device (either SCSI or IDE), and install the Burning software. However on both of my systems my CD-RW drives (yamaha scsi & plextor ide), show up as regular CD-ROM drives.

What have I done wrong? Or what else do I need to do?

Thanks for your help...

I have two cdrw's, other detected as so and other detected as cdrw. Yet, I have no builtin burning software.
Though windows reported as the imapi com burning service running.
What do you need it for?

Sounds like a driver problem... WinXP has given me that problem before. Best to go to the website of the CD-RW's makers and look for new/XP specific drivers.

Hope that's the solution (nice, neat, and easy).

The other problem is that you may need a program to run the burners...

Alot of CD-RW's being sold over the last few monthes have had a version of EZ-CD (4.x?) that is not XP compatable...

You have to go to the web site and look for the patch and read the instructions very carefully... You have to follow them just right, or start over...

Have fun, and like I said, I hope it's just the drivers...
