MS Word - show menu bar

I know I have resolved this problem before, but I don't recall what I did to resolve it. What I do recall is that preliminary measures such as "repair/restore" and "reinstall" fail to work.

Every so often I have a user who somehow hides the menu bar within MS Word 2000. (For those who are uncertain of what I mean bey "menu bar" I mean the bar at the top of the application with drop down menus such as "File" "Edit" "View" "Insert" "Format" "Tools" "Tables" "Windows" and "Help.")

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How would I go about fixing this? I can't get any buttons anywhere, pressing the right/left mouse button does nothing.

DLR37919: I've been there and don't see where to turn it back on......

Please offer some more explicit directions.

Thanks

MUNO: My user's screen looks almost exactly like yours. The only difference is the user does not have two tiles screens here.

There are hot keys you can press to open menu bar options.

Hotkeys include:

OPEN: CTRL + O
NEW DOCUMENT: CTRL + N
SAVE: CTRL + S
PRINT: CTRL + P
COPY: CTRL + C
PASTE: CTRL + V
SELECT ALL: CTRL + A
FIND: CTRL + F

Hi ..
Well, i read about this before .. and the following method (which i read somewhere, M$ i think) was helpful ...

Quote:
1- Click Start and then click Run .

2- Click Browse .

3- Locate Winword.exe , and then click to select it.

4_ Click Open .

NOTE : This step fills in the Open box in the Run dialog box.

The path to the Winword.exe file in the Run dialog box is enclosed in quotation marks. Be sure to click to the right of the closing quotation mark.

6- Type a space, and then type /a .

The statement in the Open box should look similar to the following example:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe" /a

7- Hit OK in the Run window
Check this too http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q242368

I hope it helps ...

Regards

<edit> the quoted method was explained in the link ... oops

yeh - i had it- was my customers box - he admitted to using visual basic tools to play with the bars and make custom toolbars - after 30 hours of playing with the toolsbars and the like--
solution - reinstall - of the whole thing - but the tool bars are not located in the reinstall - I think they are shared in the opsys - reason I say this is that as it was loading I saw references to the files flashing by and the path was to the sys - not the winword folder - I made about a buck and hour on that one!
if you figure out another way post it cause the way this guy comes back for warrenty work - I figure I better have a quick solution. - wiz
