Well , have found the cause of the problem. The darn MOUSE. (Microsoft Explorer Optical) .Tried an old P/S2 mouse, and found it worked perfectly. Tried my mouse in another computer, and, FREEZE, although why you cannot cut and paste or move icons after the freeze, I don't know.
However, it seems to be the cause of all the problems, but as to the WHY of it all, I just dunno. Thanks finally for all your suggestions.

tarek you might want to start a new thread. Just a suggestion, I think you will get more responses that way.

Might be a heat problem. Can you monitor your temps? I see you have a PIII, so that should not be a problem in it's self, but maybe the whole box is getting to hot.

tarek,
Welcome to TechIMO! I can undersatand your desire to ride the tide so to speak with someone else's problem but you probably won't get the help and attention you should. I suggest you copy and paste your reply to a new thread with this specific problem. If you think your problem is identical in nature to Neo770's problem then include a link to this thread so others can reference it. In the meantime, have you applied all of M$'s updates and patches to your OS? I've heard Me has some bad memory leaks so that may be part of the problem.

Hi!! I had a problem with my computer and I finely found something that would fix it..was very simple..I have windows XP Pro and my computer was freezing all the time when I would click on links or when I would maximize a screen or minimize it..Well I finely was able to go in to safe mode as an administrator and then go to the start button then to my computer/control panel/apperence and themes/display..then click on the settings tab and click on advanced button then click on the troubleshoot tab..and there is a slider bar there if u slide it one slot and then test it might fix your prob..try loging back in to your windows out of safe mode and try again..keep sliding the bar one slot over tell it finely works..I had to slide it all the way and it finely worked for me the slider is for hardware acceleration..my computer seemed to work good and fast with the slider all the way to the left ...Hope this helps any of you

Hello there Pure. I believe turning down the acceleration is a last resort, as with the slider all the way to the left doesn’t that totally disable direct x. Can you still play games with this setting? I know when I do it I can’t play back full screen video properly anymore. I'm just saying that there is probably a better solution then turning off the hardware acceleration. Have you tried making a new post with your problem?
