Mouse is OK It is Microsft Intellimouse, and although when a window is open and freezes, the mouse is OK, just cannot close anything, and sometimes CAN open windows, but then not close them. Appears when browsing mainly, and so far tonight , on the net for 15min, and freeze 4times. Will be removing SB live tomorrow, and reformatting C: so will post again..Thanks for the hint, but have allready tried two other mice...Thisis really a mystry.
As I have mentioned, comp does not crash, net stays online and no data loss, and so far NEVER, freezes during game play. Have played Serious Sam for 3/4 hours no prob.
Will try SB live and reformat tomorow.....Thanks again

Yeah, that problem is really weird. Maybe the last option you might try is to reinstall everything. good luck.

Have done the above, and , you geussed it..still freeze.
After first freeze I cannot move any icons on the desktop, only cut and paste. Same with files, can only cut and paste. Cannot drag n drop files to the darn bin either. A restart fixes all that up and wait to start again.
I gueass I will have to wait until smoke comes out of something. LOL
Thanks for all the suggestions folks, ..

Try going into you bios and change the setting for onboard usb chip to disable. I had a box do the exact same thing I reinstalled 3 ver of windoze with just the bare min hardware and it still was happening until I disabled the onboard usb and everything is good now. If this isn't the prob. check other settings in your bios it sounds as if something is not set right or an onboard component is not working corectly. Just worth a try.

Check your event log, if you don't have it disabled. It should tell you where the problem is, it always has on my system.

Have looked at event viewer many time, and nothing there to indicate an error..ie no errors. Have been through bios and all is Ok. It did the same freeze on my previous MB ,a Gigabyte BX200, and I thought this new MB AbitST6 would cure it. Could it be the CPU? It is 600EB coppermine, so is getting a bit old.. It has never been overclocked. Have formatted 5 times now, and it does it on bares bones, just OS and nothing else. Although when I CTRL + TAB now , twice, the system is restored.
Will check bios USB chip and get back later today. Thanks guys.

MDS---I disabled the usb setting in BIOS and lost mouse and keyboard, which are of course USB. Changed the setting to disable, and regulate by BIOS instaed of OS, still no luck. I'll keep looking, hell,i'm beginning to love the freezing..LOL

Thanks DLR- but I have removed SB Live, reformatted, and used on board sound, which is OK. I have put comp back together and wait and see if it ets worse or better. Have also put mouse on PS2 instead of USB. Will seehow it goes.
Thanks
