Have you checked for conflicts? Check you IRQ's and be sure that you let your BIOS manage the IRQ assignments, not Windows.

Another line of attack on this problem might be your internet connection. Either the drivers for your network card/modem, or maybe the internet settings...

What is your internet connection? And what security are you using? (so&so modem, brand 'x' firewall...)?

Internet/Modem has been going previouslly, and have checked settings till the cows come home. Even tried diff modem.worked OK Still freezing. Am downloading update to SBLive to see how it goes. Changed to SB Live several weeks prior to probs, as OS was going ok for several months then. Modem is Hardware PCI type, brand i am not sure of. Have been unable to locate any new drivers that work from drivers.com or elsewhere. Modem shows as CXT1035 PCI. Connection is unfortunately 56k dialup. Am using ZoneAlarm Pro, latest, and have tried the free one as well. All this was working previously. When finish DL SB update will reply. Network card is Realtek 10/100, through netgear switch.

Thanks for your post. N

Ok, just a thought. About the SBLive drivers: Good luck, I have not had the best experience with them in the past.

As I remember, the easiest way to use them is to let the system install the drivers (rather than the installer that comes with the drivers). The installer trys to install a bunch of other stuff along with the drivers (as I remember).

The obvious approach at this point would be to uninstall the SB Live! both physically as well as the drivers and all utilities. Then see what you have.

This maybe silly but
have your tried checking the mouse?

I once have a freezing problem. PC boots normally but 5 to minutes later it freezes, keyboard and mouse does not work. I am forced to reset the PC. I checked all but the mouse. finally I realized the possibility of mouse problems and replaced it. and it works.

Another thing, is the system overclocked? If it is, try lowering the PCI bus speed.
