Work

Hi, Folks,

This may sound a little silly, but it worked for me: once you are ready to save your Mspaint image, and you just typed the file name, type a period and add the file extension, that is .jpg or jpeg in the box. it end up like drawing.jpg (if the file name is "drawing") Then go to file properties in the above file and luckily you may discover is a .jpeg file

I am also struggling to correct the same problem you have, and it happened just after installing that cheesy app named "MS Office 2000".

Mspaint error

Hi Folks:

I found this in the Microsoft website. You may give it a try.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q299953

Is very likely due to that debased app commonly called MS Office 2000.

I am having a similiar problem on my work PC running Win 2000. I am having the same problems with paint plus, when I right click on a jpg or gif image in Internet Explorer and choose "save as" it only lets me save as a bmp. I tried all of the above with no luck.

All you need is a little file .reg:
Copy:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Export\JPEG]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Export\JPEG]
"Path"="C:\\PROGRA~1\\FILECO~1\\MICROS~1\\GRPHFLT\ \JPEGIM32.FLT"
"Name"="JPEG File Interchange Format"
"Extensions"="jpg"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Export\JPEG\Image API]
"Time Stamp"=dword:01be6ad6
"Compression Type"=dword:00000080
"Black Is 0"="Yes"
"Description"=dword:00000000
"BiLevel"="0,0,0"
"GrayScale"="128, 192, 0"
"Palette"="0, 0, 0"
"RGB"="128, 192, 0"
"RGB Planar"="0,0,0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Export\JPEG\Filter API]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Export\JPEG\Options]
"ShowProgressDialog"="Yes"
"Quality"=dword:0000004b

End of copy.
Open Notebook and paste, then save it as .reg (any name, I suggest JPEG.reg), in any folder (My docs, i.e.)
Double click on this file and you'll have again the option to save as jpg working with MSPaint.
Only for windows english version!!

Note that the path: "Path"="C:\\PROGRA~1\\FILECO~1\\MICROS~1\\GRPHFLT\ \JPEGIM32.FLT"
is my own!!! you must correct your right path: Start>run>find & type the file name:JPEGIM32.FLT....

I have a fix. At least one that worked for me. My temporary internet files folder was full. I deleted the contents (over 7,000) and now I can right click on pictures and "save as" Gif and JPG. Before doing this my only option was BMP.

I found this fix on MS Knowledge base...
