Backup question

I have my "backup" files on a partition on one harddrive. I would like to also back those up on another harddrive.
I tried just copying and pasteing hopeing that it would prompt me to overwrite but it didn't. It just renamed them.
Any ideas?

Food Moving files

What about configuring the original HD as master & the 2nd HD as a slave ... afterwards just boot the OS & use Windows Explorer to copy & paste the files from 1 drive 2 the other.

What program did you use to back them up? Or is it just a case of making copies to the other partition? If you have it, use Ghost and make an exact replica of the partition to the second hard drive.

What I was looking for was just a simple back up of important files. I tried using the winXP backup but it is limited to 4gb with fat32.
I want a windows app because I don't want to go through booting to a floppy to create an image.

You sure are asking a lot of Windows, LOL.
If they are Files, then you should be able to create a folder on the new drive called backups and simply right click and drag/drop in to it choosing copy here. If they are programs, then not so easy as they may be running at the time, and you will get an error. Not sure what you are getting at here.

Say I have 6 to 8 directories of files. As a week goes by I've only altered 2 of them with new data. But I don't really know how much or which files that I did. So what I'm looking for is a way to save all 6 to 8 directories to the second drive. When I do I want it to automatically overwrite (not rename) the files. Or better would be to figure out which files have been changed and only overwrite those files.
