harleycharlie,
When Windows loads on a System, it loads the drivers for that system and motherboard. ie PCI drivers, Brigde drivers, I/O controllers and alot of other stuff to alow windows to work for that motherboard. When you take 1 HD from one system and put it on another motherboard, Windows can get real confused about what drivers are needed to make it work on the new motherboard. I had this problem when going from an Intel 440BX based motherboard and putting my HD in a new system where the mobo was based on the Intel 815 chipset. It really had problems trying to load the new drivers but was still holding on to the old drivers. I finally had to do a fresh load of the OS on a clean HD. Going from one chipset based mobo to another is bound to cause confusion for the OS unless the systems are identical. I suggest trying to load the drivers for the motherboard or a fresh load of the OS on a clean HD.
Concerning the no A: prompt.
If your Floppy light on constantly, The cable may be on backwards.
Is your BIOS set for a 1.44 floppy?
Is your BIOS set to allow booting from Floppy?
