New Computer Advice

Going to buy a new one, its time. Looking in the mid-range area. I edit save and watch some movies, photos and everyday online activities. Not really a gamer but I may buy a few games. Here is one I put together online from AVA Direct. Price is in my appx range so do any of you have comments on this company? Do you see any glaring differences I should be aware of ie MB, Graphics Card, Ram etc? The MB seems to be proprietary to them but they have more to offer. Here are the specs, my knowledge about this is limited so any helpful suggestions are appreciated.

I didn't see any specs in your message,if you included them they didn't show up.AVAdirect is pretty reasonable in their prices, though they have had a few rough spots as far as quality of work and customer support goes, they're generally pretty good.I almost picked them for my new system, but felt their track record with the kind of high end overclocked gaming PC I was looking for wasn't good enough,I went with MAXFORCE PC instead, their prices were the same and they had a better reputation for that kind of system. For a straight forward stock system,AVA would probably be alright, certainly better than Dell or HP.

Just got a new pc from Maxforce. highly recommend him. You will have to wait a while after you order, but you can't beat the quality and the care.

If you're spending as much as $2000, you will get thoroughly ripped off by pretty much every company there is out there. Building your own PC is not hard, and is thoroughly recommended. For low budget builds there's some merit to buying from prebuild companies, but at that level, you're wasting as much as $600 on them building the system for you, which is a lot to stomach. Most of the time companies like Cyberpower use poor quality parts, but due to the elegant cases they choose you wouldn't necessarily notice.

I have to disagree in part, there are good builders out there who give you your money's worth, and the cost depends on what you're putting into the system. A top level graphics card alone can run in the $400-$500 area. Doing it yourself is possible, but it requires patience and a lot of study, there's more involved than just the physical act of putting together the parts, configuring the bios is where the real work begins.
And if you mess that up,you can do real damage, and there's no warranty for DIY.

Putting together a computer for what you want to use it for should be fairly easy to do. Personally, I like to choose all of my components rather than leave it up to a builder to cut corners somewhere else. This way I can also future proof however I see fit such as a bigger case or better power supply. I tend to buy all of my parts from ZipZoomFly, NewEgg and Amazon (no 3rd party sellers). It's fairly easy to do and can be a lot of fun. There are tons of guides out on the internet.
