I realize that this is an old post but the practice of shipping used items as new continues to the present by ALL of the vendors on the internet. Dirty? Looks Used? IT IS USED! They assured you that the unit was new, and you accepted that?? (Are you going to believe what they say or what your lying eyes tell you???) Do you know of any manufacturer who makes and ships dirty or used looking equipment other than Wrangler, Levi's or other jeans makers? ?

Remember the old adage,"If it waddles like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck;...IT IS A DUCK! The item described is a replacement for the original...I would look to the middleman (friend?) for the truth. There is NO reason at all for an item to be removed from it's original carton as they are usually designed as what is called an insert to be part of a multiple shipment in a larger more sturdy carton. A monitor is too heavy and too large to be shipped as an insert and is put into it's own heavy duty ship carton with the appropriate foam "insulation" and packaging designed to withstand international shipment. Most of these units are made in Asia and are shipped to the U.S. so why would it be logical to remove an item from a strong carton that has edured the original shipping to a lesser carton and sloppy repacking?? Here is a sample scenerio....A hem, The friend, who owns the same monitor, purchases a brand new unit, he then packs his older unit to ship to you and keeps the new one for himself.(Plus the $$$ dif.) Scenerio#2, Your friend asks you to purchase a certain item for him; you go to Ebay or Craig's list and find one for sale at deep discount. Fill in the blanks. I used to do the repackaging for a very large Electronics Mfr. (sounds like Sonic-Pan) and I was the best at it. I will tell you univocally, there is not one of you who has not accepted a demo, display item, used, repacked or refurbed unit as new. And to those of you who will say I am getting carried away...Think of the number of T.V.s and other electronics units operating on display(as you read this) in your city, state or the whole country at any given time which in the case of T.V.s is sometimes 24/7/365. (Rough guestimate: 100 T.V.s per store, 1000 stores per state, X 48 contiguous states comes out to FOUR MILLION, EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND T.V.s!!What do you think the vendors do with those tens of thousands(multi millions of dollars worth) of units when they begin to fade or are to be replaced by that years newer models?? Throw them away? Answer: They take a new unit from stock, switch the cabinet backs, put the used one in the box and ship it to YOU!!! Or offer an online sale price which seems to be a bargain. Are you willing to spend $75 to $200 dollars to return a T.V.??

One quick personal experience: Purchased a rather expensive table radio from a high end Audio/Video "Salon" here in Manhattan. When I opened it, I knew immediately what I was dealing with...but as it was a radio I decided to be flexible and went ahead with the rest of the unpacking. When I turned the unit on it was tuned to a local N.Y.C. Spanish disco station and the time was corrected to the local time which was Daylight Saving Time to boot! Did I mention that the radio was assembled in China??! Caveat Emptor. It's dog eat dog out there.
