InstallShield ... iKernel.exe error

Hey Everyone,

I have this realy frastrating problem. Every time i try to install apps that use InstallShield i get this error message:

Install Shield Engine (iKernel.exe) cannot be installed. (0x10000)

This just started recently and also I just clean installed win 2k (SP 2)
Tryed searching microsoft and installshield.com knowledge bases, but none of their solutions helped.
I tryed the following without any success:
- reinstalling IE 6
- reinstalling ikernel.exe from installshield.com
- deleting installshield/engine folder
- checked the permessions in DCOM

please help!

I had the same problem. Had to do with scratched CD. I copied the entire cd to the hard drive, ran setup from there. Installation ran OK, though I had an error, looking for an online resource which was unavailable.

I clicked OK and installation went smoothly.
