LCD Monitor or Plasma/LCD TV for Graphic Designer

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my work set up. Currently I'm on a 24 inch Imac and looking to go for the Mac Pro Tower. I can get video cards and all the stuff to hook up to a TV but what I need to know is if I plug this into a Plasma/Lcd TV will my graphics/Font/Text look as sharp as my LCD Monitor? How about color depth. I need graphic design techies who know this, or someone who can tell me how comparable are the resolution quality of plasma/LCD TV compared to LCD monitors.

Strictly design work (layouts, photo retouching, color calibrations, motion graphics), no gaming.

Or am I off better in sticking with a LCD monitor when it comes to calibrating color for print?

When choosing between LCD and Plasma TVs you are actually selecting between two competing technologies, both of which are have similar features...

Plasma technology has the better picture quality, it will triumph during night time viewing..

LCD monitors are generally better for public display such as airport signage and retail store signage...
