OTA Antenna Reception Problem

I upgraded to HDTV. When I connect an antenna to the TV, I get all my local stations in HD. But when I connect the antenna to my satellite DVR (specifically, the Dish Network 722), it finds only some of the channels.

Why does this happen? My TV has the ability to check signal strength, and the signals are plenty strong on those channels the Dish Network box doesn't see.

I wouldn't care (no problem watching in HD), but I can't record to my DVR in HD since the DVR doesn't get the HD feed; it gets only an SD feed via the satellite.

Thanks.

I can't find a P/N number. If you can tell me specifically where to look, I can get it.

I do see the serial number, smart card id, and two other numbers that may or may not be useful:
Main Board: R564254T29458J
Model: DE26

Thanks.

Hi BigJ sorry for not replying sooner. Merry x-mas.

You could always try a Diplexer
That should end your Signal Woes.

Your model has 2 ports. One SD the other HD.
When you attach your TV to it. You go through the HD.
When you record through the Air HD. Your DVR will limit you to SD.
But only on pre-selected channels. Chosen by the the RIAA.
Blame the RIAA on that one.

As you can see no matter how many times you try. Your never are going to be able to record in HD.

Since your DVR is included in with your SAT. The DVR must feed off from the SAT. And dishnetwork put restrictions on any outside HD. Meaning over the Air channels. There is the use of SlingBox though.

But with the use of the Diplexer that will keep you from switching back and forth in turn. You should receive those missing channels.

You can get a Diplexer Here.
